The Thing

Perhaps the best of the Russell and Carpenter collaborations. As much as I love all the movies they did together, there always seemed a comedic undertone to the director-actor exchange on film. This time it's just gut wrenching, horrific, and raw. The special effects were excellent and effective, especially for the time. If you haven't seen this yet, you're missing out. Classic Carpenter at his best!
