Elm Street Blues

I remember when Wes Craven flicks used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid. Especially Freddy Krueger. The special effects in each movie were always top notch and entertaining. I've even grown to appreciate the one-liners and bad jokes. The Dream Warriors is hands down my favorite. Not to mention the fact Patricia Arquette was totally to die for back in 87. I think the one thing that sticks out from these movies is that creepy nursery rhyme some little girl sings in each film.

Then there was Freddy-mania. Just like other icons of the 80s, there was merchandising galore. Not to miss out on the commercial success of this obvious cash cow, rappers began using Fred as their muse. I think the most successful of the bunch had to be the Fat Boys - Are You Ready For Freddy.



And then there's this little sleeper from the bass capital of the south, Miami. MC A.D.E. has a pretty impressive catalog of seminal bass hits like "Bass Rock Express", "Bass Mechanic", and my personal favorite "How Much Can You Take". The latter has a wicked hook which is actually a sample of the Halloween theme by John Carpenter. But, since we're on the subject of Freddy, here's A.D.E.'s contribution to the Freddy brand
