Resonate

Lately I'm getting more and more into that murky murky sound coming out of LA. That sound of bands recorded onto VHS and spat out the other side, warped and obscured, echoed through long tinny tunnels and lit up with garish neon. Bands like Geneva Jacuzzi, Nite Jewel, John Maus (via Hawaii) and the great granddaddy of the scene, Ariel Pink's Haunted Grafitti, have me enchanted and are steadily pulling me into dreamworld. A place sometimes more lucid than other times, sometimes fragmented, sometimes nightmareish, sometimes beautiful, sometimes (seemingly) unfinished and abrupt.

Thanks to XXJFG (yet again) I have a new fave that falls within these amorphous sonic boundaries, LA's own Silent Talk. The homemade CDR I got from them blows my mind. It paints a broad, broad spectrum of styles over 22(!) tracks and... I don't know, words fail me. Just listen.

These two are definitely the most ARAWA-esque of the package...
Silent Talk- My Risonare
Silent Talk- Where Can I Go

and this is the one that made me fall in luv. Hearts.
Silent Talk- Love Go's

You can buy your own custom-made and hand designed CDR right from their myspace. Do it!

The drums on Love Go's are sampled from Is it all over my face by Loose Joints. Funny because i was just playing around with sampling them today. Cool stuff.

Silent Talk's "My Risonare" is a sample from French Punk Band Taxi Girl, "Je rĂªve encore de toi", which is a cover for "Stephanie says".
