Lio

I hate to say it, but the first time I heard Lio was on Teki Latex's "Les Matins Des Paris". I guess if I had grown up in France or somewhere near, I would have known all about her by now. Better late than never. Shes a talented Portuguese/Belgian/French singer/actress (slash mania!) who has worked with an array of people I love, including Sparks, Alain Chamfort, Jacno, and Marc Moulin and Dan Lacksman of Telex, while retaining her popularity (and good looks) for over 2 decades now. From her second album "Suite Sixtine" (recently re-released by the incomparable ZE records) heres the Marc Moulin produced, "Sage (Comme Une Image)".

In other Telex related news check out the excellent Wiel's Time Capsule to get a nice clean copy of Transvolta's (Dan Lacksman) classic (and rare!) Disco Computer 12" including the title track and b-side "You are Disco". A must have for fans of ominous vocoder disco in the vein of Crazy Gang's "Every Sunday".

She was at MEG last year in Montreal with Teki. I have hazy memories of drunkenly gushing about how much of a crush I had on her. Ah...

i grew up in france and all i know from her is that she was supposed to have good taste in music... but hey, as i grew up in France i can tell she's just one more brunette/boring singer of pop french music. Her biggest hit singles in the 80's are here and there.
Annoying no ? To conclude, let's say she's from Belgium...

In comparison to the majority of American popstars she is anything but boring. Annoying? Maybe.
