You Hear Colours

I'm pleased to finally share with you my video for CFCF's new release on Acéphale Records. The video is for the single "You Hear Colours" Read the full review here. This beautifully spaced out, balearic 7" scorcher is limited, so get on it.

I want to thank Patrik over at Acéphale for letting me be a part of this release. The video was a total blast to make, especially with such a great tune to work with. CFCF is certainly a talent to keep an eye on! Enjoy the viddie kiddies!!!

Resonate

Lately I'm getting more and more into that murky murky sound coming out of LA. That sound of bands recorded onto VHS and spat out the other side, warped and obscured, echoed through long tinny tunnels and lit up with garish neon. Bands like Geneva Jacuzzi, Nite Jewel, John Maus (via Hawaii) and the great granddaddy of the scene, Ariel Pink's Haunted Grafitti, have me enchanted and are steadily pulling me into dreamworld. A place sometimes more lucid than other times, sometimes fragmented, sometimes nightmareish, sometimes beautiful, sometimes (seemingly) unfinished and abrupt.

Thanks to XXJFG (yet again) I have a new fave that falls within these amorphous sonic boundaries, LA's own Silent Talk. The homemade CDR I got from them blows my mind. It paints a broad, broad spectrum of styles over 22(!) tracks and... I don't know, words fail me. Just listen.

These two are definitely the most ARAWA-esque of the package...
Silent Talk- My Risonare
Silent Talk- Where Can I Go

and this is the one that made me fall in luv. Hearts.

You can buy your own custom-made and hand designed CDR right from their myspace. Do it!

This Man

This 1980 space oddity by Phill & The Friends is pure gold. I first heard this song on Daniel Baldelli's cosmic compilation and then mentioned on Dream Chimney by Jaz. While searching for a youtube reference I realized no one had posted it yet. Feeling like it was prime for some video treatment, this little montage came to mind. I hope I did justice to this little nugget of cosmic bliss. Enjoy

Telefon

I know theres a vast eastern European disco/new wave sound I have yet to discover. What I have found is impressive. Rewarding little treasures, impossible to pronounce and completely irresistible. I can't get these songs out of my head. Like Denis & Denis, a Croatian new wave duo whose 1984 album "Cuvaj" featured this haunting and addictive synthpop melody.

I could totally get into more of this. For now, youtube seems is the best way to find these rare gems. Enjoy the video arawans!
